Free Radical Scavenging Activity and Phytochemical Screening of Trigonella foenum-graecum: A Study with Reference to Drug Discovery

Trigonella foenum-graecum (TG) is one of the important medicinal plant which have antioxidant, antidiabetic, antilipidemic and antimicrobial properties. The main aim this study was to evaluate free radical scavenging properties, total phenolic, flavonoid content phytochemical screening foenum-graecum. antioxidant activities like 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl activity, hydrogen peroxide, superoxide reducing power are investigated in methanolic extract aqueous TG. Results showed that TG possess good activity than extract. Significant levels phenolic contents were found phytochemicals alkaloids, tannins, compounds etc. present Our investigation indicates activities, may play an role oxidative stress diseases diabetes, cancer heart attack.
